I have eaten there many times, long long ago. The Unionville Tavern has tunnels underneath the building that leads across the street which helped hide and move slaves escaping from the south in what was called the "underground railroad".

This is a great sign with paint chipping away at it from the winter weathers of lake erie.This tavern which is closed now is in Unionville Ohio,just outside of Madison Ohio.This tavern is on the old Cleveland-Buffalo road. The inn started as 2 log cabins around 1798 and converted to a in around 1815-1820.
